The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), through its National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC), has released a weather advisory alerting residents of Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and nearby regions about anticipated heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and isolated hailstorms from Friday evening through Saturday.

This advisory comes in the wake of a recent severe hailstorm that affected the federal capital and parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), causing damage to vehicle windshields, solar panels, and tree branches. The warning highlights the potential for strong winds and heavy rainfall to result in infrastructure damage, travel disruptions, and negative impacts on agriculture in the Pothohar region, as well as upper and central Punjab.
Hailstorms pose a risk to crops, rooftops, power lines, vehicles, and glass structures, while high winds may uproot trees and lead to temporary power outages. Furthermore, dust and rain could impair visibility, raising the risk of road accidents. Citizens are encouraged to stay informed by downloading the official Pak NDMA Disaster Alert app for real-time updates.
Tourists and residents in at-risk areas should monitor trustworthy sources for information and avoid non-essential travel. Additionally, residents are advised to take safety measures, secure loose items, and limit travel during severe weather conditions.
